Hawaiian Lomi Lomi

Lomi Lomi, meaning massage in Hawaiian, is an ancient Shamanic healing modality unique to the ancient Polynesians and Kahunas or master healers of Hawaii. Like East Asian massages, energy flow is a central piece of the healing practice. Physical pain and trauma as well as emotions can block energy flow that causes pain and tension. Lomi Lomi treats the mental, emotional and spiritual levels as well as the physical. Another name for this modality is “Loving Hands” massage as the practitioner focuses on the client with loving hands or ALOHA and a loving heart to promote healing on all levels. There are many different Lomi styles in Hawaii. I practice two distinctive Lomi Lomi styles from different lineages.

Lomi Lomi Temple Style

Temple style is a form of full body massage that is unlike any other massage modality. One of the most blissful massages you can receive. A Hawaiian Temple Bodywork session begins, ends, and is infused with ritual and prayer, setting the space as sacred. As a client receiving a Lomi Lomi massage the main difference from other massage styles is that the massage is performed on the whole body at once. The massage is given in fluid, rhythmic motion using the forearms as well as the hands. Some people have described this as feeling like gentle waves moving over the body. Lomi Lomi can be a spiritual vehicle for transformation within one’s self.

Heartworks Lomi Lomi

Heartworks Lomi Lomi is one of the ancient Hawaiian bodywork styles. This massage assists to bring about balance, restoration and heart opening peace to the body, mind and spirit. The Hawaiian traditions teach that this massage uses the hands as instruments of the heart – the practitioner massages with an open heart creating a safe environment for the receiver. Long fluid, rhythmic strokes over the whole body provide a relaxing and therapeutic massage.

What to expect at your Heartworks treatment:

Heartworks Lomi Lomi takes place on a table with oil. Cloths and sarongs are used to maintain comfort and modesty. This is a whole body massage (back, front, face, arms and hands, legs and feet). Mana (life force) is encouraged to vibrate throughout your entire being. Muscle tension releases, blood (energy) flows freely, the mind and body relaxes and healing can occur. Swedish massage therapy aims to smooth the muscles in your body, massaging muscles and adhesions of the connective tissue under the skin. This massage is relaxing and detoxifying. Foot Massage

Our feet are often the least spoiled part of our body. The nerves in our body, go from the top of our head to the soles of our feet and interact with each organ and part of the body.
